Thank You for your email October 13th was an atrocity. I watch the EC meeting was appalled by our govenors actions. I will be in favor of a complete favor a complete investigation. And any actions thereafter that are agreed upon. Rep Gail Sandborn.

Good morning, I totally believe in freedom of speech, but when you go into a meeting and threaten people that is not acceptable! There are other ways to get your point across. Sorry!

The arrests seem to be far from necessary. I don't trust the court system. Matthew Simon has done a good job of summarizing available information. I think the legislature should investigate the events; unfortunately, I don't trust the legislature either.

Thank you for reaching out to me and a number of my colleagues. I appreciate your thoughtful and what clearly are heartfelt sentiments, as well as your citations, interpretations and applications of several Articles of the NH Constitution.

I believe your appeal should be addressed seriously,  and I know a few of my colleagues in the House agree. Painfully and regrettably, I am saddened to tell of my shock and distress over the positions taken by a number of fellow Republicans, whose responses to the questions and issues raised by the Governors conduct on October 13 amount to either distancing of giving the back of the hand. What I am reading most frequently is that no people in their districts have communicated with them about October 13.

We will press forward, but win or lose we will know that we have stood on the side of right.

My response to the arrests of the 9 folks at the last Executive Council meeting. Granite Staters have the Right to assemble peacefully at any time and place to share concerns. Nobody was hurt. Nobody was violent. Nobody should have been arrested! Governor Sununu knows very well what people's Constitutional Rights are and he should respect them. #Showup #Standup #peacefullyassemble Representative LittlefieldDistrict 3 Laconia”

Norm Silber has filed a 91-A request, I am told. Contacting the AG and demanding an investigation likely will not do a thing, as you probably know. An investigation is needed, certainly. Will that happen as part of the court process? Probably.

Otherwise, Mark Alliegro appears to be leading the response in the House. He does not know for sure if there is a way to have an investigation in the House outside of an impeachment. Whatever the process is, I will vote in favor of it. I do not have the time to lead on it.

Disrupting a meeting that people attended to witness the business of the Governor and Council?

There are consequences, Robert, which your wife must face. That’s how society works. It has nothing to do with party it has to so with the maintenance of a civil society. If you don’t want to be arrested don’t disrupt - that is your choice.

Jan,

I would invite you to review video evidence before you make such a statement. The arrests were not due to a disruption and that was clear.

Should the arrest have been warranted, and video evidence available to refute my points, i would be keeping my mouth shut for fear of self incrimination.

Thanks

Again, your address is important in constituent services.

And no, I believe that if it is proven that this was a wrongful arrest that you have recourse.
Disruption of a business meeting is sort of frowned upon here Robert - they have an agenda to follow.
If you have other concerns you reach out to your Rep or Senator.

You could ask those people you want to reach to hold a public forum, if you need to speak in public on whatever issue you have - but really - this is NH.

If you were there to protest $27million coming to NH to help slow covid again, you will find no support here.

Hi Maureen.

I remembered that you are an attorney as per our talks while holding Bill Boyd's signs.  I would like you to spare 10 minutes to watch this video:

I have 2 questions; one as a lawyer and one as a rep.

1) How would QI play into any litigation on the heels of last Wednesday's incident?

2) Rep Mark Alliegro is interested in gathering evidence and building a case for articles of impeachment.  Will you support that?

I am eager to know.

Regards,
Julie

Hi Julie:

I hope you are well.

I don’t know an answer to your first question. And I don’t support impeaching our Governor.

 Great to hear from you.

Yes I am very aware of what happened on Wednesday and I can tell you that I am totally pissed about it.

I am glad I was not at the meeting because I would probably be in jail right now.

The good news is that we have all sorts of video evidence that those 9 Patriots did nothing wrong.

If Sununu is crazy enough to prosecute these people he will be cutting his own throat.

I received e-mail from Rep. Alliegro, and will consider that option, but I need to see how how Sununu proceeds and what actions our House leadership propose to take first.

God Bless,

Call the Executive Councilors and ask them to drop charges. The Executive branch runs its own affairs, not the House.

I personally donated to a fund for their defense and am hopeful everyones name will be cleared.

The legislature doesn’t mount criminal investigations. Anyone can submit a 91-a request. The proper avenue for all of this to be investigated is through the judicial system.

Hello,

Tank you for writing and thank you asking...

I am definitely in the camp of #1 and #2. I have not taken any action but will email the AG and demand an investigation. I would have submitted a 91A but knew that Norm had done it and that Sununu would respond exactly as he did. I have been in contact with Mark Alliegro and informed him that I am happy to stand with him should he decide to do a press conference denouncing these arrests.

One of my constituents was one of the 9 arrested. I know her well and she and her husband are decent people who gave me eyewitness accounts of the situation.

Best,

Rep. Diane Kelley

 Mr. Axelman,

I appreciate you reaching out to share your thoughts. Having said that, the assumption that a non-reply by today means no action is being taken by anyone is a false assumption. There are a lot of people concerned about this situation, and trying to understand it factually is an important step.

On Friday, I spent quite a deal of time speaking to EC staff to understand the situation, since I did not attend the 13 Oct meeting. I also spoke to Commissioner Quinn, NH Public Safety, to understand why the state police made the arrests. I then spent the weekend listening to all 4 hours of the EC meeting so I could understand how many outbursts during the meeting there were. Based off what I heard, there were not too many outbursts.

I still don't have information on why the state police decided to escort the first people out of the room, since they appeared seated and quiet in a video clip I saw. I would also like to know how 2 of the people escorted out of the room resisted arrests.

If you have any specific information to share, I would appreciate it. Thank you.

Respectfully,

Sue Homola

  1. Would like to see, depending on who does it- no whitewash.
  2. Have requested procedure from the House Clerk- have the procedure along with sample documents from last impeachment proceeding in 2000.
  3. Submitted to commander of the state police- got a BS reply that they have nothing responsive to my request.
  4. Did not do because it would be a waste of time and  effort- the AG was appointed by His  Excellency and is not likely to do anything that would adversely reflect on HE.

Good Morning,

Thank you for your email. Through the process established by the Constitution the Judicial Branch will address the innocence or guilt of the individuals. There are Court Rules, that when requested by Defendant's, the State will provide Exculpatory Evidence to them.

Thank you for writing on this issue.

I was not present, have not seen complete television or video footage of the entire incident and have not talked with the Governor nor Councilors regarding what happened.

While we all have a right of free speech we must remember that there are limits on freedoms. For example liable and slander are freely spoken, but there is a course of actions against the speakers. In a public hearing, in a public setting freedom is likewise limited by common courtesy, decorum and process. Until I hear more about the specific behavior and specific charges I will withhold judgement or comment. In addition my comment upon the situation maybe viewed as interference in the judicial process, especially since I have no first hand evidence upon which to make a comment.

I am, however, very concerned that the State Police felt the need to arrest people and wonder why. I have been in situations where direct threats have been made, but I just ignored them, while heightening my situational awareness.  It does not appear that there was any cause at this meeting, but other charges may have been outstanding and this venue was used to effect arrest.

In this instance the options you provide are unreasonable and do not reflect the responsibilities of my office.  Your publication suggests that you have a predetermined opinion based upon a complete lack of information and a rejection of due process. In addition you claim to represent the constituents of New Hampshire.  When food shopping and at Sunday breakfast this issue has seldom come up in conversation.  In the one case it did, the person only wanted to know how to get more  information.

As an elected official I should act only within the limits of my office and only when all the facts of a situation are known.  Those who act precipitously betray their office, in my opinion.

Neither you no I know the cause of arrest and that is being kept confidential under 91a as "under investigation."  It is very possible those arrested were being charged with prior conduct either at the State House or at the Majority Leader's private residence.  Neither you nor I have that information.

Rather than responding like a radical liberal being upset at "something", I prefer to get all the information before taking action.  Despite requests, we do not yet have the information needed.  It may be infuriatingly slow, but it is our way of assuring everyone's rights are protected.

Dear Mr. Axelman, thank you. I am in receipt of your email. The email does not note who is author or entity responsible for the email.
